  • It's official - Tyler Eifert is a bust...

It's only week 3 and he is already hurt. Face it, he can't stay healthy and a TE who can't stay healthy is useless. He can't be counted on so it's time to draft a replacement in the draft.

He's quite a weapon when healthy and playing at his peak, but, yeah, he sure gets hurt a lot.

They should have drafted OJ this year instead of wasting the pick on Ross. Having said that I would put the franchise tag on Eifert next year. I think it is $9-10M which is what a long term contract would cost per year. He is too talented when he is healthy.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert is expected to miss multiple weeks with a back injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Eifert missed Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with the injury after playing in the first two games of the season for the Bengals. He has four catches for 46 yards on the season so far.

The injury is not expected to require surgery.

He played in just eight games for the Bengals last season as back and ankle injuries forced him to miss half the season. Eifert had surgery on his back this offseason and missed OTAs before returning for training camp.

The Bengals play at the Cleveland Browns this week and host the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 before getting a bye in Week 6.

He's definitely a bust for my fantasy team.

Good news of all this is, he won't demand as much on the market now, so the Bengals should be able to afford to resign him.

he's definitely a disappointment but I don't know how someone that was an all-pro and led the league in TD catches, even if it was just for a year, can be called a "bust" ....just sayin.
potential targets for Bengals #1 overall pick in 2018:
QB's- Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Mason Rudolf
OT's- Orlando Brown, Connor Williams, Mike McGlinchey

Tight end Tyler Eifert has sat out the last three Bengals games with a back injury and heís reportedly mulling a course of action that would keep him out for a lot longer.

Adam Schefter and Field Yates of ESPN report that Eifert is currently in Los Angeles meeting with doctors to decide if he should have back surgery. The operation, which would be Eifertís third, would bring an end to his season.

Eifert has been a productive receiver when healthy, but heíll end the year having missed 22 games over the last two years and 41 games over the course of his five-year NFL career if he does miss the rest of 2017. Thatís made things tough from a planning standpoint for the Bengals and it will leave Eifert without much hope of landing more than a one-year deal when he hits free agency next spring.

Tyler Kroft has stepped into the lead tight end role with Eifert injured and has 14 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.

What will it take for us to get production from a 1st rd draft pick?

I'd prefer a healthy Tyler Eifert over Tyler Kroft, but the difference isn't that huge...Kroft has done very well filling in.

His career is over. Another failed first round pick. He can now get back to following Donald Trump around and tweeting about Notre Dame football. Good riddance.
