Pretty much what everyone has been observing that the Bengals couldn't fix. Running game sucks, Hill's rookie season was a fluke. He has maturity issues. He can play out next season, I don't expect much. Ever since we lost the great Jim Anderson....our running backs haven't produced much sadly.

And looking at the kicking......Darrin Simmons cost us the season. He cost us 2006 going to the playoffs. He should be fired. Also, if Erickson can get into the end zone and not be tripped like a fool, we win more games. Hands down, Darrin Simmons is a fool.

Also, the Bengals have always been trying to find that elusive pass-rushing backer or game-changing linebacker. I'm still on the fence on who is better....Meth-Mouth Thurman or Thinks-He's-Too-Important-and-wanna-be-thug Burfict. But we have never found a non-DL lineman who can rush the passer.

Picking top ten in the draft, we need a plug-in-play day 1 starter. We have whiffed on way too many draft picks.

Looking at the scoring by quarters again
    Bengals
    97 - 94 - 69 - 65 - 0 - 325
    Opponents
    71 - 81 - 69 - 94 - 0 - 315

+26 points in the 1st quarter
+13 points in the 2nd quarter
even points in the 3rd quarter
-29 points in the 4th quarter

    Ouch.

So is this a coaching/execution issue or a conditioning factor? This season was doomed from the get-go when Eifert got hurt and so did others. It's difficult to get in sync with the playbook and the modifications a long with getting in shape for handling the rigors of the physical aspect of the game itself.

I think the season was doomed after the previous years bad playoff loss. It took over the half the season before the players even seemed remotely engaged. ML should have been fired after that distaster and should be now but it will not happen. I expect we will have a rebound regular season but continue to struggle in key games that matter.
